A Bit About Me
My love of flowers began with my mum and dad’s roses. The summer colours and scent in our southern Ontario garden were completely captivating! I was always snipping the best blooms and bringing them in the house.
East Valley Blooms (previously East Van Blooms) was born in 2019 from a love of fresh cut flowers and the desire to grow them locally in my urban environment at that time, East Vancouver, British Columbia. I remember getting excited by the thought that growing flowers would mean I would have “endless” blooms to share with my friends and family (and for me too!). Little did I know this passion would provide my life with so much beauty, love, sweat and growth!
Wedding flowers for T&G…
We moved away from the city in 2022 and now grow seasonal cut flowers in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. All annual blooms are started from seed and field-grown to supply fresh, specialty cut flowers locally.
Growing cut flowers has allowed us to contribute to the appreciation of sustainable, seasonal flowers on this beautiful Island in our own small way.
With each passing season here, everything grows stronger and roots get deeper as we lean into trials of new specialty flowers… and our local community!
a few of my favourite things…
Jellycat! Always nearby with a reminder to relax, smell the flowers or take a nap. Treats and chin scratching keep the unconditional love and purrs flowing (for me, you may just get attitude and a hiss).
This guy! They do not get better than this. I get all the support, love, and laughs I need with him, plus the handy bonus of additional skilled hands for building greenhouses, garden beds, and farmstands.
How could I have a “favourite flower”? Impossible! Though, I could stare at the delicate, intricate structure of Astrantia for days. I still struggle to grow these from seed, so if you have any tips let me know!
Muddy boots and buckets of fresh blooms! Most definitely one of my happy places and the ultimate goal of a cut flower grower.
